Welcome to CrossRoads Pre-school

MISSION STATEMENT

TO PROVIDE A SAFE, LOVING AND CHRIST-LIKE HOME AWAY FROM HOME.

Welcome to CrossRoads Pre-School. God conceived a plan by which we would enter the world as babies, grow up through the joys of childhood, learn how to rely on others, and see the world through eyes of simple faith before taking on the world as adults.  We at CrossRoads Pre-School strive to help you as parents develop this faith. Our mission at CrossRoads Preschool is to reach out to children and their families by providing an environment that nurtures sound spiritual, physical, mental, social and developmental needs. We hope to help each child build the foundation needed for successful Christian living now and forever.

SPIRITUAL - We believe that basic Christian principles are essential in providing children with a sound foundation for their future growth. Through special Christian curriculum, we are able to meet this task.Children are taught that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is their Lord and Savior, and that the Bible is the written Word of God and the way for their lives to be patterned.

PHYSICAL - We recognize the need to provide an age-appropriate physical environment for each child, and have designed an environment to meet its physical activeness.

MENTAL - We strive to provide children with a safe, secure, learning environment to develop their emerging skills. We recognize that you are your child's first and most important teacher and feel it is important for parents to be part of their child's growth. Therefore, we will keep parents informed of their child's progressand activities and strive to provide ways for parents to be active in the school.

SOCIAL - We provide channels by which children are able to experience positive ways to develop socially through basic Christian concepts.

DEVELOPMENTAL - We believe that the majority of a child's learning foundation is established at a young age.  We focus on this concept by providing an accepting, non-threatening, learning environment that is developmentally age-appropriate. We provide a hands-on learning style environment that allows exploration and discovery through the use of the five senses.

We are a non-profit ministry of CrossRoads Church specializing in full-time care for infants, six weeks to five years of age.

Arlynn Ellis, Executive Pastor/Licensed Director

FIRE SAFETY

We have a written fire evacuation plan and practice a fire drill with the children at least once each month. Our evacuation and emergency exit maps are posted in each room for parents, staff and children to become familiar with. The meeting point for all classrooms will be behind the daycare playground or in the front (behind the Subway) until emergency personnel arrive. The attendance of the children during the drills will be accounted for at the designated safe area by the caregivers taking their attendance chart and parent and emergency contact phone #s for each child in care along with them. In the event of a real fire and/or emergency, The Communication system will include contacting local authorities, (such as fire, law enforcement, emergency medical services, and health department), all parents and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The emergency phone numbers are located on each clipboard along with the attendance log of who is present during the emergency. We will keep all children calm until the situation has been settled and handled under full control. In addition, we incorporate fire safety curriculum into our program occasionally. Our facility is inspected regularly for fire safety. We also keep a written tornado or other emergency plan. We

practice this drill with the children and staff every 2 months as well. In the event of an emergency or bad weather, all children and staff meet in the center classroom (school kids) and or bathroom.

SCREEN TIME/TECHNOLOGY LIMITATIONS FOR CHILD CARE

Children younger than 2 years will not have any screen time (TV viewing, video games, computer time, etc.) and children over the age of 3 years will be limited to no more than 60 minutes a day. We limit technology use on site to improve communication between staff, children and families (e.g., refrain from cell phone use). In order to facilitate better communication between the parent(s) and teacher and the parent and child it is best if parents are not distracted by use of electronic devices while at the center.

If youbegin potty training before your child is two, and he/she loses interest, stop and try again in a few weeks.Once the child is older, they will restart the process. The teachers along with your family will keep trying, they will catch on eventually. We will keep in close communication with you during this important learning process. When your child begins to show interest, we will start to work on potty skills. Accidents are part of the learning process. The child is cleaned and changed promptly. It is important to have several changes of clothes on hand. Children having an accident one or two more times per week are not considered completely potty trained. Children must be potty trained in the 3s, 4s & 5s classrooms.

CHILD CUSTODY AGREEMENTS/SITUATIONS

Child custody agreements: in order for us to follow court ordered child/custody/visitation agreements, we will need to have a certified copy (with the court house seal) of such agreements in the child’s file. Further, please note that we cannot withhold a child from a parent if we do not have a court order stating such and both parents have equal rights.

We will follow a court order exactly as written. We don’t allow visitation or supervised visitation to happen inside our centers due to safety and the well-being of all staff and children.

Please note: per state law, in the absence of a court order, both parents have equal rights.

It is imperative that all enrollment forms are completed with both parents’ information. A copy of a child’s birth certificate may be requested at the director’s discretion. If a custody issue creates a risk for our facility or staff, we have the right to terminate care.

Policy for handling persons under the apparent influence of drugs/alcohol and persons who pose safety risks: (includes: abusive parents/legal guardians and any adults, who cannot take the child safely from the facility.) 1. The child will not be released to anyone who cannot safely care for the child. 2. Staff will notify police by calling 9-1-1 to manage an adult under the apparent influence of drugs/alcohol or an individual who poses a safety risk. 3.
